Opening days and times


  • The museum is opened from 10h00 to 06H00 pm (last admission at 05h15 pm).See the Visit the Museums section below to find out more about the various types of visits available at each museum.

Following the terror attacks in Paris on friday, november 13, 2015 and to ensure the safety of our visitors, the Palais de Compiègne is strictly applying the security measures decided by the french authorities.

The museum is fully opened.

It is strongly recommanded not to bring suitcases and luggages to the museum. They are not accepted.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience and delay which may be caused by the extra security checks at the entrance.

 

  • Bank Holidays

The palace will be closed on 01/01, 01/05, 25/12. The palace will be open on 14/07, 15/08 and 01/11.

 

  • Modified hours on the 24th and the 31st of december

    Early closure on 24 and 31 December

    Due to the Festive Season, on 24 and 31 December the museums and the grounds of the Palais de Compiègne will close at 17.00pm (last admission at 16.15pm). Thank you for your understanding.

AREAS

UNACCOMPANIED VISITS

Unaccompanied visits enable you to discover the Palace at your own pace (last entry 45 minutes before closing time).

THEMED VISITS

These visits are carried out by speakers from the Réunion des Musées Nationaux (extra charge in addition to entry fee).

GUIDED TOURS

These visits are carried out by the Palace’s reception and supervisory staff (no extra charge in addition to entry fee).

Les Appartements

de l’Empereur et de l’Impératrice (The Apartments

of the Emperor and the Empress)

The richly furnished imperial apartments reflect the splendour of the First and Second Empire.

Les Appartements

du Roi de Rome et double de prince (The Apartments of the King of Rome and the prince’s chamber)

These areas demonstrate the quality of the decor and furnishings of the XVIII century and the First Empire.

Le musée du Second Empire (The museum of the Second Empire)

A unique collection showing popular taste during the Second Empire and the private life of the imperial family

Le musée de l’Impératrice (The museum of the Empress)

The Ferrand collection comprises a unique collection of souvenirs of the imperial family. The pieces on show range from clothing to personal objects, constituting moving testimonies.

Le musée de la Voiture

et du Tourisme (The museum of the Vehicle and Tourism)

An exceptional collection which follows the steps of the tourists of yesteryear: sledges, cycles, automobiles and travel accessories.

THE PARK

Measuring an unmisssable 20 hectares park, it is sometimes known as the “Jardin Remarquable” (Remarkable Garden). Take advantage of the walkways and woods for a relaxing break, not forgetting the Beaux-Monts walkway, which offers an impressive view over 4.5 km of land, right into the heart of the forest.

PLEASE NOTE: it is advised to set aside approximately one hour for visiting each area of the Palace.
